Snæfellsnes is another part of Iceland that you should put on your travel list! One of the things that is really high up on my Icelandic travel list, is the West Fjords. Sadly, I could not go there yet. However, I got close to it by joining my friend on one of her bus tours. It was by Reykjavik Excursions and called “The wonder of Snæfellsnes“.
Snæfellsnes is characterized by black sandy beaches, bird cliffs, spetucular and huge mountains and volcanic craters. It is a peninsula on the west of Iceland. Apparently, it also carries the name “Iceland in Miniture” because many sights can be found in this area. That includes the Snæfellsjökull volcano too with a glacier on top.
The tour by Reykjavik Excursions takes about 12 to 13 hours, quite long. It includes some small fishing villages, the Djúpalónssandur beach and the Kirkjufell mountain.
